Nursery schools

The school day, shared with the right family.

GuardianLink is the communication book for a nursery school. Teachers write the day for the children in their care. Parents read the report once it is released. Principals and admin assistants run the school from the portal.

This website does not sign anyone in. A school invites its teachers and parents. They sign in with an 8-digit email code. Principals open the portal with the button above.

Schools

For principals and the school office

The portal is where the school is set up, and where the day is watched. Sign-in is an 8-digit code emailed to you. Admin assistants work in the same school-scoped portal.

Principal login
  • School settings, classes, children, and which teacher is allocated to which children.
  • Families, guardians, and the staff list.
  • Invite a teacher or a parent by email. A teacher who has not signed in yet shows as Invited.
  • Revoke a staff membership when someone leaves. A principal cannot revoke their own.
  • Quick comments for all classes, for EL, or for Toddler. Add, edit, reorder, or archive them, or add the starter comments. The words chosen at checkout stay on that day’s report, so a later edit to the library does not rewrite it.
  • Acknowledge a concerning report before parents can see it.
  • Review duplicate suggestions on care entries, and merge them or keep both.
  • A recent audit list, and parent read receipts on the dashboard: when a parent first opened the report, and any remark they left.
  • Announcements to the whole school or to one class.
  • On the phone, a lighter view: today’s children by class, acknowledge a concerning report, and open the portal for setup.
  • Delete your own login from the user menu. If you are the only principal, appoint another principal first. The school’s records stay with the school.

Teachers

For teachers and assistant teachers

An email code opens the day on the children allocated to you. You record care for those children, check them out, and see when a parent has read the report.

  • Today’s list of allocated children.
  • The EL or Toddler communication book for the class: meals, toileting, activities and therapy where that book includes them, and how the day went. Naps are recorded on the Toddler book.
  • A capture sheet for food, sleep and toilet updates through the day.
  • Checkout with the school’s quick-comment chips and an optional note.
  • After checkout, whether a parent has viewed the report and any remark they left, with the times.
  • An announcement to the whole school or to one class.
  • Delete your own login from Account. Daily reports stay with the school.

Parents

For parents and guardians

You use the login the school linked to you, and you sign in with an email code. You see released reports for your own children, and nothing from another family.

  • Today’s released report comes first, including the quick comments the teacher chose and the time the teacher checked your child out.
  • The first time you open a released report, a read receipt is saved. It cannot be changed afterwards.
  • An optional remark back to the teacher.
  • Announcements from the school and from your child’s class.
  • Only the children the school has linked to you.

The day

How a day moves

  1. 1
The teacher records the day for each allocated child, on the class book and the capture sheet.
  2. 2
Checkout attaches the school’s quick comments and an optional note, and marks the day good, okay, or concerning.
  3. 3
A good or okay day is released to the linked parents. A concerning day waits until a principal or admin assistant acknowledges it.
  4. 4
The parent opens the report. That first open is the read receipt. They can leave a remark the teacher can see.

A concerning day stays at school until someone senior has read it.

If checkout is marked concerning, parents do not see that report until a principal or admin assistant acknowledges it. A rough day is saved as okay. It does not wait. Only an explicit concerning checkout does. That hold is a communication check, so a sensitive day can be read at school before it goes home.

Schools stay separate

One school’s children stay with that school.

  • Database access rules return only that school’s records to the people who belong there.
  • Parents never receive a school-wide view. Access follows the children linked to them.
  • Children do not have accounts, and they do not use GuardianLink.
  • Invites and sign-in codes are emailed from GuardianLink.
  • Staff and parents can delete their own login. Care records remain the school’s.
